NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman announced that the salary cap for next season is projected to be $92.4 million, with a potential increase pending negotiations with the NHL Players’ Association. The League is currently projecting $6.6 billion in revenues for this season. Discussions with the NHLPA regarding escrow levels and potential tweaks to the salary cap are ongoing. The NHL and NHLPA are set to begin formal discussions on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement in February, with hopes of finalizing the agreement by 2025. Plans for NHL player participation in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy are progressing positively, with construction of the arena on track for completion in October. The League is also working towards finalizing plans for a World Cup of Hockey in 2028. Discussions with Rogers Sportsnet executives and the V Foundation about the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer Initiative were also highlighted at the Board of Governors meeting.
