Luigi Mangione's grandmother left tens of millions of dollars to her descendants with the condition that none of them be charged, indicted, convicted, or plead guilty to a felony. The will specified that the trustees have the discretion to implement this condition, particularly for certain types of felonies. Mangione, who was recently charged with second-degree murder, firearm possession, and forgery in connection with the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, was arrested after a five-day manhunt. Investigators found a manifesto on him at the time of his arrest, in which he criticized the U.S. healthcare system. Mangione had been dealing with chronic back pain and had become estranged from friends and family before the incident.
