Big Lots will not be sold to another management firm as planned, leading the company to start going-out-of-business sales at all remaining locations. The company is still seeking a buyer and hopes to finalize a deal by the end of January. Over 400 locations have closed this year, leaving 963 locations still open. Big Lots filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September, and a reduction in workforce is expected to begin next month.
