Two U.S. Army veterans, Matthew Livelsberger and Shamsud-Din Jabbar, were responsible for the New Year's Day attacks in Las Vegas and New Orleans, respectively. Both men served at Fort Carson in Colorado during their military careers and rented vehicles to carry out their acts of destruction. Livelsberger detonated a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, while Jabbar used a Ford F-150 Lightning pickup truck to plow into crowds on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. The attacks were carefully planned, with Livelsberger's truck containing flammable materials and Jabbar's vehicle carrying pipe bombs and an Islamic State flag. The FBI is investigating both incidents to determine if the perpetrators acted alone.
