Aston Villa is in discussions with Borussia Dortmund to acquire Netherlands striker Donyell Malen, with negotiations ongoing after an initial offer of £15 million plus bonuses was rejected. Malen, who can play across the front line, would provide Villa with added pace and quality in attacking positions. The 25-year-old has 18 months left on his contract and has a strong relationship with Villa left-back Ian Maatsen. Malen, who previously played for Arsenal and PSV Eindhoven, has scored five goals for Dortmund this season, including one in their recent Bundesliga win over Wolfsburg.
