The U.S. State Department has accused the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces of committing genocide in Sudan. The chief of the RSF, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as Hemedti, has been sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the RSF and allied militias have been systematically murdering men and boys on an ethnic basis, as well as targeting women and girls from specific ethnic groups for rape and other forms of brutal sexual violence. The situation in Sudan is dire, with reports of widespread atrocities being committed by the RSF.
