Vince McMahon, co-founder of World Wrestling Entertainment, will pay over $1.7 million to settle charges by the Securities and Exchange Commission for failing to disclose payment agreements related to sexual assault charges. The SEC found that McMahon bypassed WWE's internal accounting controls, leading to misstatements in the company's financial statements. McMahon agreed to the settlement without admitting or denying the findings, paying a $400,000 civil penalty and reimbursing WWE approximately $1,331,000. The SEC alleges that McMahon did not disclose payments made to former employees to suppress claims against him, resulting in overstatement of WWE's net income in 2018 and 2021. McMahon reportedly paid a total of $12 million over 16 years to suppress allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity.
