A nurse in Kampala, Uganda, has died of Ebola, marking the first fatality since the last outbreak in 2023. The 32-year-old male patient, an employee of Mulago Hospital, tested positive for Ebola after developing a fever and died on Wednesday. Health authorities are managing the situation, with 44 contacts identified, including health workers and patients at the hospital. The source of the current outbreak is under investigation, as Uganda has experienced multiple Ebola outbreaks in the past. Ebola, a deadly hemorrhagic fever, was first discovered in 1976 during outbreaks in South Sudan and Congo.
