Google's online calendar has removed default references for holidays and cultural events, such as Pride and Black History Month, causing users to notice the omissions. The tech giant made the change midway through last year, manually adding a broader set of cultural moments for several years. Users can now manually add important moments that are no longer included by default. In addition to the calendar changes, Google Maps has also updated names following orders from President Donald Trump, with the Gulf of Mexico now labeled as the Gulf of America. Google has faced criticism for scrapping some diversity hiring targets in response to an executive order aimed at ending DEI initiatives.
