Vietnam is revising its energy plans to focus more on large solar farms and less on coal and natural gas, aiming to get 16% of its energy from the sun. The new policy outline scraps plans for offshore wind turbines in favor of onshore wind capacity, rooftop solar, and energy storage. Vietnam is emphasizing the expansion of large solar farms to meet growing power demand, with a forecasted need for over 211 gigawatts of energy by 2030. Despite efforts to increase clean power capacity, Vietnam is also increasing its use of coal to meet demand and make up for lost hydropower capacity.
