"Man Pleads Guilty in Murder-for-Hire Scheme in Albany, New York"
[!CDATA[A man named Jeal Sutherland, aged 57, has admitted to being involved in a murder-for-hire scheme targeting a man in the Albany, New York, area. Sutherland pleaded guilty to using an interstate commerce facility for this purpose, which could result in a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. The plea was entered in federal court in northern New York. Court documents revealed that Sutherland planned to have the victim killed, who is the father of a child with Sutherland's ex-partner. As part of the plan, Sutherland offered to forgive the debt of the hired killer and contacted someone he believed to be a hog farmer to dispose of the victim's remains by feeding them to hogs. However, the farmer turned out to be an undercover FBI agent. Sutherland was arrested in late January, and the intended victim was unharmed. Prior to his arrest, Sutherland had also arranged for a dead Canada goose with a threatening letter to be placed on the doorstep of the victim's mother. The United States Attorney John A. Sarcone condemned Sutherland's actions as a vicious plot to harm a romantic rival and intimidate the victim's family. In addition to a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years, Sutherland may face a fine of up to $250,000 and supervised release for up to three years. His sentencing is scheduled for September 22, 2025.]]
