"Violent Attack on Pregnant Woman in Boston Sparks Outrage and Concern"
[!CDATA[A pregnant woman in Boston was the victim of a violent attack after disembarking from a bus, according to Massachusetts prosecutors. The 23-year-old woman, who was 17 weeks pregnant, reported that a man named Dana Young, 33, approached her from behind and struck her on the head, causing her to fall to the ground. Young then proceeded to kick her in the stomach multiple times before fleeing the scene. The assault, which occurred on April 29 around 6:30 p.m., was targeted, although the nature of the relationship between Young and the woman was not disclosed. Following the attack, the woman declined immediate medical attention but later sought care at Tufts Medical Center to assess the well-being of her unborn child. Doctors informed her that the baby might not be able to be carried to full term due to potential brain damage from ingesting blood during the assault. Young was subsequently apprehended and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery in violation of a restraining order, and assault and battery on a pregnant victim. During his arraignment in municipal court on May 15, Judge David Poole revoked Young's bail from a previous case and ordered him to be detained for at least 60 days. Bail for the new charges was set at $2,000, and Young was instructed to have no contact with the victim if released. A pre-trial hearing for Young is scheduled for June 3, where he will appear in court to address the charges brought against him. The incident has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of pregnant individuals and highlights the importance of protecting vulnerable populations from harm.]]
