Davidsonville Murder Mystery: Teens Charged in Brutal Killing of Businessman Edward Stephen Koza

A tragic incident unfolded in Davidsonville, Maryland, where a 67-year-old businessman, Edward Stephen Koza, was found dead in his burning truck. Two teenagers, Jonah Michael Poole and Kylee Alyssa Dakes, both 18, have been charged with murder, conspiracy, and arson in connection with the crime. The discovery of a Bass Pro Shops baseball cap at the crime scene led investigators to the suspects, who allegedly bound Koza, drove him around, and set his truck on fire.

Responding to a call about a burning truck at Tropic Bay Water Gardens, authorities found Koza's charred body inside the vehicle. Signs of struggle and blood were evident at the scene, with a Bass Pro Shop cap left behind near the truck. Surveillance footage from a nearby gas station captured a female subject and a male wearing a Bass Pro cap, believed to be the suspects, purchasing items before the attack.

Poole and Dakes, who were in a romantic relationship, were identified as suspects based on evidence linking them to the crime scene. Poole, a senior at Southern High School, was also implicated in a burglary at Pirates Cove restaurant prior to the attack. Despite pleas for bail from their lawyers, both teens were denied bail and missed their high school graduation.

The motive behind Koza's murder remains unknown, and investigators are working to uncover the circumstances leading to the crime. The Anne Arundel County Police Department is actively investigating the case to determine the cause of death and the motive behind the brutal killing. The suspects' connection to Koza and the reason for the attack are still under scrutiny as the investigation continues.
