Michelob Ultra's Superior Hotel: Lionel Messi Stars in New Commercial for FIFA Club World Cup
Lionel Messi stars in a new Michelob Ultra commercial timed for the FIFA Club World Cup. The ad, titled "Superior Hotel," features Messi competing in a one-on-one soccer match for the last Michelob Ultra in the hotel bar fridge. The 30-second commercial will be shown on social media platforms and during FIFA Club World Cup broadcasts. The tournament kicks off on June 14 with Messi's team, Inter Miami, facing Egyptian club Al Alhy at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Ricardo Marques, Michelob Ultra's senior vice president of marketing, believes Messi is a perfect fit for the brand. He stated that Messi's global soccer icon status aligns well with the brand's momentum and growth in the U.S. market. Michelob Ultra is the official beer sponsor of the FIFA Club World Cup and will present the Superior Player of the Match Trophy after each game. The brand will also sponsor the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In addition to the commercial and sponsorship, Michelob Ultra will set up pop-up beer gardens and pitchside clubs at the 12 host stadiums. Fans can enter online for a chance to win a seat in the Michelob Ultra Pitchside Club in New York City for the semifinals and final matches. Marques emphasized that the FIFA Club World Cup provides an opportunity to enhance the fan experience and solidify the brand's association with soccer leading up to the 2026 World Cup.
