Kucherov Wins Ted Lindsay Award for Outstanding NHL Player

Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning was awarded the Ted Lindsay Award, recognizing him as the most outstanding player in the NHL as voted by members of the NHLPA. This is the second time Kucherov has won the award, with his first win in the 2018-19 season. He led the NHL this season with 121 points and also received the Art Ross Trophy for leading the League in points. Kucherov's teammates had planned to surprise him with the award after his daily skate, but he threw them off by not skating that day. Eventually, he was presented with the Ted Lindsay Award by his teammates, led by captain Victor Hedman.

Kucherov expressed his gratitude to his teammates for the award, stating that it meant a lot to him. In addition to his scoring prowess, Kucherov led the NHL in power-play points and tied for third in game-winning goals this season. He maintained a plus-22 rating and recorded at least one point in 65 games. Kucherov had 33 multipoint games, including 17 with at least three points. This season marks the third consecutive year that Kucherov has surpassed 110 points, showcasing his consistency and skill on the ice.

Having previously won the Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player in the 2018-19 season, Kucherov is once again a finalist for the award this season. He is competing against Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers and Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets for the prestigious honor. The winner of the Hart Trophy will be revealed at the 2025 NHL Awards on June 12, just before Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. Kucherov's exceptional performance and impact on the ice have solidified his status as one of the top players in the NHL.
