SoCal Regional Baseball and Softball Playoffs: Semifinals and Finals Preview
The SoCal Regional Baseball Playoffs saw some exciting matchups in the first round. In Division I, Patrick Henry defeated Santa Margarita 2-0. In Division II, Rancho Bernardo upset Fountain Valley 4-2, while San Dimas beat Santa Maria St. Joseph 6-3. Estancia edged out Mary Star of the Sea 2-1 in Division IV, and Nuview Bridge dominated Port of Los Angeles 14-3 in Division V.
The upcoming semifinals promise more thrilling baseball action. In Division I, Villa Park will face off against St. John Bosco, and Patrick Henry will take on Crespi. In Division II, Rancho Bernardo will play Eastlake, and San Dimas will go up against Point Loma. The Division III matchups include Universal City versus Dos Pueblos and Venice against Mt. Carmel. In Division IV, Rancho Mirage will challenge Wilmington Banning, and Estancia will meet Ridgeview. Lastly, in Division V, Nuview Bridge will play Corcoran, and High Tech SD will face Pioneer.
On the softball side, Poway defeated Ayala 4-1 in the Division I first round, while Irvine University overcame Marquez 5-3 in Division IV. The semifinals will feature Poway against El Modena and Bonita Vista against Chula Vista Mater Dei in Division I. In Division II, Monache will play El Cajon Christian, and Eastlake will face Westlake. Division III matchups include Olympian versus Point Loma and St. Bonaventure against Legacy. In Division IV, Rio Hondo Prep will challenge Pioneer Valley, and Irvine University will meet Woodlake. Lastly, in Division V, Rancho Mirage will play Culver City, and Hueneme will face Orcutt Academy.
