Soldier in Hawaii Pleads Guilty to Killing and Dismembering Pregnant Wife: The Case of Pfc. Dewayne Arthur Johnson II

A soldier stationed in Hawaii confessed to killing and dismembering his pregnant wife in July 2024. Pfc. Dewayne Arthur Johnson II admitted to striking Mischa Johnson with a machete and then dismembering her body. He pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and other charges as part of a plea agreement. Mischa Johnson, who was six months pregnant, went missing from Oahu’s Schofield Barracks last summer. The Army Office of Special Trial Counsel referred charges against Pfc. Johnson in February, leading to a military trial. During court proceedings on June 3, Pfc. Johnson revealed that the killing occurred during a fight with his wife and that he disposed of her remains in garbage bags in a dumpster that was later incinerated. He expressed remorse and apologized for his actions, acknowledging his failure as a husband, father, and man. Pfc. Johnson is set to be sentenced on June 5.
