Summer Fun: City of Tucson Road Races and Track & Field Events

Looking to stay active this summer? The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation is hosting Road Races and Track and Field events in June and July. Participants of all ages are welcome, with a fee of $3 for ages 17 and younger and $4 for those 18 and older. The track and field events take place every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Drachman Stadium, featuring various competitions and ribbons for the top three finishers at each meet.

The Road Races, held every Thursday at 6 p.m. in different parks, offer 1-mile, 2K, and 5K races. Abraham Montijo, the City of Tucson Recreation Program Supervisor, emphasizes that these events are a great way for the community to explore different parts of Tucson and its amenities. Participants can enjoy the races and receive ribbons for their achievements.

The upcoming locations for the Road Races will provide participants with a chance to discover new parks and enjoy the outdoor activities. While the events may have a competitive aspect, Montijo stresses that the primary goal is to have fun and engage in recreational activities. The program aims to create an enjoyable experience for individuals of all ages, promoting a sense of community and fitness.

On the opening day of the events on June 3, over 150 people joined in the activities, showcasing the community's interest in staying active and participating in recreational programs. Registration for each event is available on the night of the race, with a 30-minute window before the start time. Don't miss out on the opportunity to be part of these exciting events and explore the beauty of Tucson through sports and recreation.
