Canadian Athletes Shine on the International Stage: 2025-2026 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series Assignments
The International Skating Union (ISU) has released the schedule for the 2025-2026 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series, featuring competitions in six different countries. Canadian athletes will be participating in various events, including the 2025 Skate Canada International in Saskatoon, SK, from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, 2025. Other stops on the circuit include Grand Prix de France, Cup of China, NHK Trophy, Skate America, and Finlandia Trophy, all happening between October and November 2025. These events are crucial in determining Canada's figure skating roster for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
Skaters and teams can compete in a maximum of two events, earning points based on their placements. The top six from each discipline will qualify for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, scheduled for December 5-8, 2025, in Nagoya, JPN. The Canadian assignments for the 2025-2026 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series have been announced, with athletes competing in various disciplines across different events. The assignments include pairs, ice dance, women, and men categories, showcasing the depth of Canadian talent on the international stage.
In the Grand Prix de France in Angers, FRA, Deanna Stellato-Dudek & Maxime Deschamps will represent Canada in the pairs category, while Marie-Jade Lauriault & Romain Le Gac will compete in ice dance. At the Cup of China in Chongqing, CHI, Fiona Bombardier & Benjamin Mimar will take the ice in the pairs category. The Skate Canada International in Saskatoon, SK, will see Canadian representation across various disciplines, including women, men, pairs, and ice dance. The NHK Trophy in Osaka, JPN, will feature Katherine Medland Spence in the women's category and Alicia Fabbri & Paul Ayer in ice dance.
Skate America in Lake Placid, USA, will have Kelly Ann Laurin & Loucas Éthier competing in pairs and Marjorie Lajoie & Zachary Lagha in ice dance. Lastly, the Finlandia Trophy in Helsinki, FIN, will see Madeline Schizas in the women's category, Roman Sadovsky in men's, Lia Pereira & Trennt Michaud in pairs, and Piper Gilles & Paul Poirier in ice dance. These assignments highlight the Canadian athletes' participation and competitiveness in the international figure skating scene, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
