Roger Penske Receives One-of-a-Kind Porsche 963 RSP to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Last Street-Legal Porsche 917

Roger Penske, the 88-year-old billionaire and spokesperson for RBF, received a unique gift from Porsche to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the last street-legal Porsche 917 built for Count Rossi. Porsche honored Penske with a one-of-one street-legal version of the 963, inspired by the racing version of the car. The special road-going race car, named 963 RSP, was unveiled before the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where Penske's team will compete with three Porsche 963s. The 963 RSP, finished in Martini Silver paint, pays homage to the iconic 917.

The Porsche 963 RSP features several modifications to make it street-legal, such as provisions for license plates, added vents over the fenders, and the removal of rear wing blanking plates. The interior of the car is bespoke, with leather and Alcantara trim, a carbon bucket seat, and a 3D-printed cup holder. The car is powered by a Bosch hybrid system paired with a turbocharged V8 engine, which has been remapped to run on pump gas. The carbon chassis is built by Multimatic and features dual-valve DSSV dampers tuned for a comfortable road driving experience.

While the Porsche 963 RSP is capable of being driven on the road under special circumstances, it is not a homologated addition to the Porsche model lineup and remains a one-off creation. If someone wishes to own the 963 RSP, they would need to convince Roger Penske to sell it, as it is intended to be a very special and unique vehicle.
