Olivia Munn shares her experience of welcoming her 8-month-old daughter Méi through a surrogate. As she prepared for Méi's arrival, Munn felt a connection similar to that of an expectant father, despite not carrying the baby herself. Due to her breast cancer diagnosis, Munn had to use a surrogate to expand her family. She underwent various procedures and surgeries before having a window to do an egg retrieval. Munn's doctor put her on a special IVF protocol for cancer patients, and she was able to retrieve seven eggs, two of which were healthy female embryos, fulfilling her and her husband's desire for a baby girl.
The process of finding a surrogate was emotional for Munn, who prioritized kindness in her search. After meeting a potential surrogate who expressed a desire to help someone who had gone through cancer, Munn knew she had found the right person to carry their daughter. Despite initial concerns about whether her daughter would know her, Munn's anxieties disappeared after Méi's arrival. She found solace in the connection she shared with her daughter, recognizing similarities between them.
Reflecting on her journey, Munn expresses gratitude for her two children and the strength she discovered within herself throughout the challenges she faced. She is proud of what she has accomplished and is filled with happiness and gratitude for her family.
