Unlocking Prince's Vault: Exciting Releases on the Horizon

Exciting news for Prince fans as new releases from his vault of unreleased music are on the horizon. Londell McMillan of Prince Legacy LLC made the announcement during this year's Prince Celebration event in Minneapolis. A boxed set edition of 1985's "Around the World in a Day" is in the works, along with vinyl editions of Prince's last two albums released during his lifetime, "Hit n Run Phase One" and "Hit n Run Phase Two." The estate also released a new acoustic version of "Free" from 1982's "1999."

Looking ahead, McMillan hinted at something coming from the 1986 album "Parade" next year. He mentioned that the estate has faced obstacles in sharing major reissues due to dealing with two major labels, Sony and Warner, and two rights owners, Primary Wave and the estate. The process of cataloging what's in the vault has been slow, with only about 45% digitized so far. McMillan emphasized the need for patience to ensure that releases honor Prince's legacy.

The estate is working on speeding up the digitization process while ensuring that releases are optimized for Prince's legacy. McMillan stressed the importance of not rushing the process to maintain the quality of the releases. Despite the challenges, fans can look forward to more music from Prince's vault in the future.
