Brooklyn Basketball: BSE Global's Youth Development Initiative Near Barclays Center

BSE Global, the parent company of the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty, has announced plans to open a youth basketball facility in the abandoned Modell’s store near Barclays Center. The facility, called Brooklyn Basketball, will offer various programs for young basketball enthusiasts, aiming to cultivate a new generation of fans for the teams. The center will feature two full courts, a half court, a shooting lab, and cutting-edge technology for coaching and training.

The initiative is part of BSE Global's strategy to engage with younger fans and build a strong fan base in Brooklyn. The temporary facility will be located at the Modell’s site, which is slated for future development into a residential, hotel, and office complex. The center's design and plans have been in the works for some time, with the goal of creating a safe and inclusive space for youth to learn, grow, and connect through basketball.

The facility will offer a range of programs, including after-school and weekend training, camps, daily clinics, advanced training, and all-girls programs for a fee. It will also host Brooklyn Basketball's new after-school program for ages 6-14, with special training sessions for girls on Wednesdays. The center will complement BSE Global's existing community training program, which has already reached thousands of city school children through basketball training integrated into gym classes and community clinics.

Marissa Shorenstein, Chief External Affairs Officer at BSE Global, emphasized the importance of the initiative in providing a space for youth to learn valuable life lessons through basketball. The facility's opening date has not been specified, but it is expected to coincide with the start of the Nets' season and the Liberty's potential playoff run in the fall. The center's focus on youth development and community engagement aligns with BSE Global's broader efforts to integrate their brands further into the borough and create a lasting impact on the community.
