Return to Silent Hill" and "Silent Night, Deadly Night" Remake: A Double Dose of Horror Coming Soon to Theaters
A new Silent Hill movie titled "Return to Silent Hill" directed by Christophe Gans has secured a U.S. distribution deal with Cineverse. The film is independent from previous Silent Hill movies and is set to be released on January 23rd. Cineverse, along with Bloody Disgusting and Iconic Events Releasing, will also bring a remake of the classic Christmas slasher movie "Silent Night, Deadly Night" to theaters on December 12th.
The original "Silent Night, Deadly Night" movie, directed by Charles E. Sellier Jr., follows the story of Billy Chapman, who goes on a killing spree in a Santa Claus costume. The remake stars Rohan Campbell as Billy and Ruby Modine as Pamela. The film also features Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson in unspecified roles.
"Return to Silent Hill," based on the video game Silent Hill 2, follows James as he returns to the town of Silent Hill in search of his lost love. The film stars Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson. The movie explores James' descent into darkness and encounters with terrifying figures.
The "Silent Night, Deadly Night" remake is produced by Scott Schneid, Dennis Whitehead, Jamie R. Thompson, Erik Bernard, and Jeremy Torrie. Executive producers include Steven Schneider, Anthony Masi, and others. The financing for the film was provided by Bondit Media Capital and Royal Bank of Canada. "Return to Silent Hill" was produced by Victor Hadida, Molly Hassell, and David Wulf.
Cineverse's Chief Motion Pictures Officer, Yolanda Macias, expressed excitement about championing proven IP in their theatrical strategy. Mark Rupp, CFO/COO of Iconic Events Releasing, highlighted the decision to release "Silent Night, Deadly Night" as an unrated wide theatrical title and the anticipation for "Return to Silent Hill" following the success of the Silent Hill 2 game remake.
