76ers, Penn Medicine, and Allen Iverson Unveil Revamped Rufus Williams Basketball Court in West Philadelphia
Basketball icon Allen Iverson joined forces with the 76ers and Penn Medicine to mark a significant milestone for West Philadelphia. The trio unveiled the revamped Rufus Williams Basketball Court, which is described as a vital community space for young individuals and their families. Prior to the grand reopening, a team of volunteers from the 76ers and Penn Medicine dedicated their time to cleaning up the area and removing trash. The event was followed by a basketball clinic led by 76ers' Justin Edwards and Jr. 76ers coaches, where they imparted new skills to over 100 local youth from six community organizations.
In addition to the court renovation, the 76ers and Penn Medicine recognized six non-profit organizations as part of their “Assists for Safe Communities Program.” Each organization was presented with a monetary contribution to support their efforts in addressing violence in the community.
