Kevin Hunter Files $250 Million Lawsuit to End Wendy Williams' Guardianship: Allegations, Defendants, and Legal Battle Explained

Kevin Hunter has filed a $250 million federal lawsuit in New York to end Wendy Williams' guardianship, which he describes as a "civil death." The lawsuit names over 30 defendants, including Williams' guardian Sabrina Morrissey and publicist Shawn Zanotti, seeking a trial and immediate termination of the court arrangement. Allegations in the lawsuit provide reasons for ending the guardianship, but Wendy has reportedly denied any involvement in the lawsuit, according to TMZ.
The lawsuit states that Wells Fargo froze Williams' accounts in 2022, leading to the court-ordered guardianship. Prior to this, Williams was considered an "incapacitated person" and a victim of financial exploitation. Allegations include unauthorized payments to Dr. Rami Kaminski without Williams' consent, leading to the guardianship being imposed through a "secret proceeding" without proper legal representation.
The lawsuit also implicates Williams' former publicist, Shawn Zanotti, and manager, William Selby, for profiting from her situation through a documentary. It alleges that Zanotti and Selby exploited Williams' name and story to conceal the truth about her situation and insulate the guardianship from criticism. The lawsuit seeks Williams' release from the guardianship, termination of Morrissey's control over her finances, and appointment of a new guardian.
In addition to seeking the return of misappropriated property, the lawsuit demands a full forensic accounting of Williams' assets since 2015 and compensation for damages. It claims that Williams has lost access to her estate, annual earnings, condo, and suffered reputational harm due to the guardianship. The lawsuit seeks $250 million in compensatory, punitive, and treble damages under the RICO Act for the alleged criminal enterprise.
Despite previous claims by Morrissey about Williams' condition worsening, Williams reportedly scored a perfect 10/10 on a psychiatric "capacity test" in March, proving her mental capacity. This contradicted allegations of cognitive impairment made by Morrissey, who had previously mentioned a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia. Williams had denied these claims in previous public appearances, asserting that she is not cognitively impaired.
