2025 British Columbia Hockey Hall of Fame Induction: Honoring Shawn Horcoff, Richmond Sockeyes, and More

The British Columbia Hockey Hall of Fame (BCHHoF) will be celebrating the achievements of BCHL alumnus Shawn Horcoff and the 1986-87 Richmond Sockeyes in their 2025 induction class. Jim Hughson, the chair of the BCHHoF, emphasized the importance of honoring these individuals who have made significant contributions to the game of hockey in the province.
Shawn Horcoff, originally from Trail, B.C., had a successful NHL career, playing over 1,000 regular season games with the Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars, and Anaheim Ducks. He also represented Canada at the World Championships, winning gold twice and earning a silver medal. Horcoff's early hockey career included stints with the Trail Smoke Eaters and the Chilliwack Chiefs in the BCHL, where he showcased his talent and was recognized as the league's Most Valuable Player.
The 1986-87 Richmond Sockeyes, after winning the Fred Page Cup in the BCHL and the Centennial Cup at the national level, will also be honored at the induction ceremony. This team's success on the ice led them to victory in the national championship game against the Humboldt Broncos.
In addition to Shawn Horcoff and the Richmond Sockeyes, other notable inductees for the 2025 BCHHoF class include Dan Hamhuis, Mike Penny, Larry Kwong, Ted Hargreaves, and the 1977-78 Kimberley Dynamiters. These individuals and teams have left a lasting impact on the hockey community in British Columbia.
The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on July 12 at the South Okanagan Events Centre. Hockey fans and supporters can purchase tickets for the event to witness the recognition of these outstanding individuals and teams who have contributed to the rich hockey history of British Columbia.
