Former Sacramento Kings Player Vlade Divac Undergoes Emergency Surgery After Motorcycle Accident

Former Sacramento Kings player Vlade Divac suffered a broken hip in a motorcycle accident in Montenegro and underwent emergency surgery to address the fracture. The incident occurred near the Montenegrin Adriatic Sea coast, where doctors performed a procedure to implant an artificial hip in the 57-year-old.

The hospital spokesperson confirmed that Divac is in stable condition and under close medical supervision following the surgery. Divac, a retired Serbian basketball player, spent most of his NBA career with the Kings, with stints at the Los Angeles Lakers and the Charlotte Hornets.

Having received All-Star honors in 2001, Divac was a prominent figure in the NBA and later served as the general manager of the Kings. He was one of the first European players to transition to the NBA in 1989 and was the first non-U.S. born player to surpass 1,000 games in the league. In 2019, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Additionally, Divac held the position of president of the Serbian Olympic Committee from 2009 to 2017. Our thoughts are with Vlade Divac for a speedy recovery after this unfortunate accident.
