Rising Star: Keon Johnson's Breakout Season in the NBA

After a breakout season in the NBA, Nets guard Keon Johnson is gaining recognition for his impressive ball-handling skills. The NBA's official X profile recently highlighted Johnson's handles as among the best in the league. In a clip shared by the NBA, Johnson is seen making a spectacular move past Paul George before dunking near Joel Embiid, showcasing his talent on the court.
Last season was a career-best for Johnson, as he played 79 games, started 56 games, and averaged 10.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Despite not being a designated point guard, Johnson displayed his ability to handle the ball and distribute it effectively when given more offensive opportunities. In a game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Johnson recorded a career-high eight assists along with 15 points and eight rebounds, demonstrating his versatility on the court.
Throughout the season, Johnson had several standout performances, including a 22-point, eight-rebound, five-assist game against the Atlanta Hawks, and a 20-point, six-assist, five-rebound game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. As the Nets head into free agency, they decided to retain Johnson by exercising their team option to keep him for the upcoming season. Johnson, who previously played for the Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers, joined the Nets on a two-way contract after being released by the Phoenix Suns earlier in the season.
