2026 Winter Olympics: Hockey Canada National Teams Orientation Camp Roster Revealed

Hockey Canada recently announced the list of athletes invited to its National Teams Orientation Camp in Calgary from Aug. 26 to 28 in preparation for the 2026 Winter Olympics. The camp will involve various activities like presentations, team-building, and media opportunities. Among the invitees are 42 NHL players, including Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Evan Bouchard from the Edmonton Oilers. McDavid is already confirmed for the Olympics, while his teammates will have to compete for spots on the final roster.
Both Bouchard and Hyman were previously considered for Team Canada but did not make the cut. However, their performances in the recent NHL season have boosted their chances. Hyman's chemistry with McDavid could be a significant factor in his selection, while Bouchard's offensive skills and defensive capabilities will be evaluated by the coaching staff. Nugent-Hopkins, on the other hand, is unlikely to secure a spot on the team but is valued for his professionalism and leadership qualities.
Notably absent from the invite list is Stuart Skinner, the Oilers' goaltender, who was previously in contention for a roster spot. The three goalies invited to the camp are Jordan Binnington, Adin Hill, and Sam Montembeault, indicating a strong likelihood of them being the final selections for the Olympic team. Skinner's chances of making the team seem slim unless he delivers exceptional performances in the upcoming NHL season. The competition for roster spots will be intense, and players will need to showcase their skills early in the season to secure a place on the Olympic team.
