Comedian Faizon Love Faces Felony Assault Charges: San Diego Judge Finds Probable Cause to Proceed
A San Diego judge has determined that there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a felony case involving comedian Faizon Love. Love faces charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon, with an enhancement due to the bodily harm inflicted on the alleged victim. The incident occurred when Love, upset over a hotel reservation issue, allegedly assaulted a front desk clerk with a credit card machine, causing her to suffer a concussion and ongoing health problems.
During a preliminary hearing, the alleged victim testified about the altercation that took place last August. She recounted Love's escalating anger after being informed of the lack of vacancies at the hotel despite his reservation. The woman claimed that Love aggressively confronted her and ultimately threw the credit card machine in her direction, resulting in her injury.
Witnesses, including the victim's coworkers, corroborated her account of the assault during the hearing. Following the testimonies, the judge determined that there was probable cause to proceed with the charges against Love. The comedian is scheduled to face trial in January and could potentially face up to seven years in prison if convicted.
This incident is not the first time Love has faced assault allegations. In 2017, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge for assaulting a valet at an airport, resulting in a fine and a suspended jail sentence. Love's legal troubles continue to unfold as he navigates the upcoming trial for the recent felony assault case.
