European Airports Set to Eliminate 100ml Liquid Limit: What It Means for Liverpool John Lennon Airport Passengers

Liverpool John Lennon Airport passengers may soon be able to carry larger volumes of liquids in their hand luggage as several European airports are set to eliminate the 100ml liquid limit. New scanners with advanced technology are being introduced at major travel hubs, allowing passengers to bring liquids in containers of up to two litres without the need to remove them from their bags. Liverpool John Lennon Airport already implemented Next Gen scanners in March, eliminating the requirement to place liquid items in small plastic bags and allowing all liquids and large electronics to remain in hand luggage. However, the current restriction on liquid container size remains at 100ml.

The airport spokesperson mentioned that passengers will be able to bring larger volumes of liquids once the security equipment is approved for the change. European airports like Berlin, Rome, Amsterdam, and Milan are leading the way in scrapping the 100ml rule, with more airports expected to follow suit. The European Commission is expected to confirm the new liquid rules soon, as the new scanners are gradually being rolled out across the European Union. Different rules may apply at various airports, potentially causing passengers to face varying regulations during their journey.

According to the Government website, most airports worldwide restrict liquid containers to 100ml when passing through security. It is essential to prepare and check the rules before traveling to avoid delays. Some airports may allow containers of up to two litres of liquid, but this should be verified beforehand. The rules for carrying liquids in hand luggage differ depending on the airport, so passengers should familiarize themselves with the regulations before their trip.
