Star Trek: Legacy" Spin-Off: The Future of the U.S.S. Enterprise-G and Its Crew

The final season of "Star Trek: Picard" brought back the crew of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" for an epic finale. The show ended with a dramatic showdown against the Borg Queen, but it was the promotion of former Borg drone Seven of Nine to captain of the U.S.S. Titan, now the U.S.S. Enterprise-G, that left fans excited. The new Enterprise had a fresh crew, including First Officer Raffi Musiker, Ensign Jack Crusher, Lt. Arliss Mura, Ensign Esmar, Ensign La Forge, and Dr. Ohk. A post-credits scene hinted at a potential spin-off following the adventures of this new Enterprise and its crew.
Showrunner Terry Matalas teased a possible spin-off titled "Star Trek: Legacy," although there were no concrete plans for the series. Jonathan Frakes, who plays Admiral Riker, expressed his interest in being part of the spin-off and shared his vision for the show. Frakes envisioned himself and Marina Sirtis as mentors to the crew of the Enterprise-G, drawing parallels to the character Charlie from "Charlie's Angels." He hoped to direct episodes and be involved in the show's production.
Despite the enthusiasm from the cast and crew, "Star Trek: Legacy" remains on hold since the conclusion of "Star Trek: Picard." While there is interest in a sequel to the show, the studio has not greenlit the spin-off. Producer Alex Kurtzman expressed his support for "Star Trek: Legacy" but mentioned that the decision lies with higher-level studio executives. Despite the desire from fans and the creative team, the fate of the spin-off remains uncertain.
