Recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, the album preceded Nicks and Buckingham's joining of Fleetwood Mac, which was initiated by drummer Mick Fleetwood after hearing their work.
Despite the success of the album, the relationship between Nicks and Buckingham has been strained since Buckingham's departure from Fleetwood Mac in 2018. Fleetwood has expressed his desire for the two to reconcile and even planned a band reunion before Christine McVie's passing in November 2022.
