ESPN recently released a comprehensive list of potential College Football Playoff contenders, compiled by ESPN Analytics. The list features 32 teams with a minimum 10% chance of making it to the CFP according to preseason projections. Notably, 11 of these teams are from the SEC conference. The SEC teams included in the list are Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, LSU, Auburn, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Florida.

Texas stands out with the highest probability at 89.3% to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff, leading all teams nationwide. Following closely behind is Georgia with a 78.6% chance, while Alabama is the only other SEC team with odds greater than 50/50 to reach the Playoff. The remaining SEC teams, such as Mizzou, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt, did not make the list of potential contenders.
