Derek Trucks Honors Jerry Garcia with Iconic Guitar at Tedeschi Trucks Band's Red Rocks Performance

Tedeschi Trucks Band recently performed at Red Rocks Amphitheatre for their annual two-night event. Co-bandleader Derek Trucks showcased Jerry Garcia's 1976 Travis Bean TB500 #11 guitar during the shows, playing two Grateful Dead covers each night. On Friday, the band opened with a cover of "Franklin's Tower" to honor what would have been Jerry Garcia's 83rd birthday. Derek Trucks used the iconic guitar for this performance and also played it for a rendition of Derek & The Dominos' "Anyday."
The 1976 Travis Bean TB500 #11 guitar was exclusively used by Jerry Garcia from August 4, 1976, to December 31, 1976. Derek Trucks paid tribute to Garcia's legacy by incorporating the guitar into the Tedeschi Trucks Band's setlist at Red Rocks. The band played a total of 17 songs on Friday, with Derek Trucks switching to his own guitars for the remainder of the show, which included fan favorites like "Let Me Get By" and "Bound For Glory."
On Saturday, Tedeschi Trucks Band delivered a 19-song performance, starting with original songs before transitioning into covers. Derek Trucks once again wielded the TB500 #11 for a medley of John Prine's "Angel From Montgomery" and the Grateful Dead's "Sugaree." The band also debuted a new original song, "Devil Be Gone," and treated the audience to covers of Johnny Moore's "How Blue Can You Get?" and Joe Cocker's "Space Captain."
The concert concluded with an energetic encore featuring The Box Tops' "The Letter" and a rendition of the Beatles' "With A Little Help From My Friends" with special guests. Tedeschi Trucks Band's performances at Red Rocks showcased their musical prowess and dedication to honoring iconic artists like Jerry Garcia.
