Exploring the Diverse Lineup of the 2025 New York Film Festival

The lineup for the 2025 New York Film Festival has been revealed, featuring a selection of 34 films. Among the highlights are Jafar Panahi’s It Was Just an Accident, Kathryn Bigelow’s A House of Dynamite, and Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly. Other notable films include Kelly Reichardt’s The Mastermind, Seymour Hersh documentary Cover-Up, and Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. A House of Dynamite will have its North American premiere at the festival, while the others will debut in New York.
The festival will also showcase Cannes winners Sentimental Value, Sound of Falling, Resurrection, and Two Prosecutors, as well as Kent Jones’ Late Fame, starring Willem Dafoe and Greta Lee, making its North American premiere. NYFF artistic director Dennis Lim emphasized the importance of defending the art of film in today’s world, highlighting the diverse range of films in this year’s lineup.
Featuring movies from 26 countries, the main slate includes two world premieres, eight North American premieres, and 13 U.S. debuts. The festival previously announced its opening night film, After the Hunt, starring Julia Roberts, its centerpiece film, Father Mother Sister Brother by Jim Jarmusch, and its closing night film, Is This Thing On? directed by Bradley Cooper.
The 63rd New York Film Festival, presented by Film at Lincoln Center, is scheduled to take place from September 26 to October 13. With a diverse and compelling lineup, the festival promises to celebrate the art of cinema in all its forms and expressions.
