Pat Benatar's 'Crimes of Passion': A Rock Icon's Breakthrough Album
On August 5, 1980, Pat Benatar released her second studio album, Crimes of Passion, which reached the #2 spot on the Billboard 200 chart and held that position for five weeks. The album included three singles, with the most popular one being "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," her first top-10 hit. The other singles were "You Better Run," the second music video ever shown on MTV, and "Treat Me Right," which became a top-20 hit. Crimes of Passion was certified four-times Platinum by the RIAA and earned Benatar her first Grammy for best female rock vocal performance. She later won three more Grammys in the same category.
