14th Annual Wiffle Ball Tournament at Little Fenway: Supporting Type 1 Diabetes Research

A popular Wiffle Ball tournament is making a comeback at Little Fenway in Essex, Vermont, for its 14th year. The event is organized by SLAMT1D, a nonprofit founded by Jeff Kolok from Jericho, with the goal of raising funds for individuals with Type 1 diabetes. Kolok, who acquired Little Fenway from the Travis Roy Foundation in 2021, hosts a three-day Wiffle Ball tournament at the miniature versions of iconic baseball stadiums like Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, Yankee Stadium, and Field of Dreams. The fields have been meticulously prepared by over 4,000 volunteer hours to welcome 30 teams from across the nation.

Last year's tournament successfully raised over $420 thousand for Type 1 diabetes research. This year, NBC5's Jack Main will be participating in the tournament as a member of the "Bush League Boys" team, organized by Eric Bissell, a UVM Men's Soccer national champion and Mount Mansfield Union graduate. Bissell's family members, including his parents and sister, are all affected by Type 1 diabetes. Donations are still being accepted for the event, and the link to contribute can be found on the tournament's website.

In conclusion, the annual Wiffle Ball tournament at Little Fenway is a cherished tradition that brings together teams from around the country to support a noble cause. With the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of participants, the event continues to raise significant funds for Type 1 diabetes research, making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by the condition.
