DC Universe Shake-Up: Canceled Projects and New Directions

James Gunn and Peter Safran have brought a fresh perspective to the DC Universe, leading to the cancellation of several planned projects to make way for new ones. Wonder Woman 3 was among the casualties, as the new management opted for a different direction for the iconic character.
Another project that got the axe was the potential sequel to Black Adam, despite hints of its continuation. The decision to not move forward with Black Adam 2 was made as part of the new chapter of storytelling in the DCU.
While a Supergirl movie is still in the works, it will feature a different actress in the lead role than originally planned. Milly Alcock will now portray Supergirl in the upcoming film, replacing Sasha Calle.
Gotham City Sirens, a rumored project that was speculated to be a sequel to Birds of Prey, will not see the light of day under the new management's direction. The project remained in the realm of speculation and was ultimately scrapped.
Rumors of a new Batman project featuring Michael Keaton and penned by Christina Hodson surfaced after the Caped Crusader's return in The Flash. However, the project was never officially announced and was reportedly canceled in December 2022.
Plans for another Superman movie with Henry Cavill were also altered with the reboot of the DC Universe under James Gunn's leadership. Despite the cancellation of these projects, fans can still look forward to a host of new and exciting ventures from the revitalized DCU.
