Revisiting Fleetwood Mac's Iconic Self-Titled Album: Celebrating 50 Years with New Premium Audio Editions

Fleetwood Mac's iconic self-titled album from 1975 recently marked its 50th anniversary, and to commemorate this milestone, Rhino has released two new premium audio editions of the album. The album, known for hits like "Over My Head," "Rhiannon," and "Landslide," is now available in Dolby ATMOS and on vinyl as part of the Rhino High Fidelity series.
The Blu-ray Audio edition features a new Dolby ATMOS mix by Chris James, providing listeners with an immersive experience of the classic album. Additionally, it includes a 5.1 surround mix by original producer Ken Caillat and Claus Trelby. These editions are available in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.
The Fleetwood Mac (Rhino High Fidelity) vinyl edition was mastered by Kevin Gray, cut from the original analog master tapes, and pressed on 180-gram vinyl. Limited to 5,000 individually numbered copies, this edition is exclusively available at Rhino.com and select WMG stores. A special version, limited to 2,000 copies, includes two replica 7-inch singles featuring single mixes of popular tracks.
Released on July 11, 1975, Fleetwood Mac was the band's tenth studio album and the second to bear the group's name. With the addition of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks to the lineup alongside Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and Christine McVie, the album marked a significant shift in the band's sound. The album's melodic and harmony-rich approach resonated with audiences and propelled the band to new heights.
Featuring hits like "Over My Head," "Rhiannon," "Say You Love Me," and "Landslide," Fleetwood Mac gained popularity through extensive touring and word of mouth. The album eventually reached #1 on the Billboard 200 chart fifteen months after its release. In the new liner notes by music journalist Anthony DeCurtis, Buckingham reflects on the energy and excitement of that transformative period for the band.
The reissue of Fleetwood Mac's self-titled album offers fans a chance to experience the timeless music in a new light and appreciate the band's evolution during this pivotal era.
