Fear FA 98 is a unique blend of survival horror and football, creating a one-of-a-kind gaming experience. Developed by solo developer Jacob Jazz, the game combines elements of Silent Hill and Resident Evil with the gameplay of Fifa and eFootball Winning Eleven. Players must navigate through a world overrun by monsters and demons while using unconventional weapons like knives and syringes to progress in the story mode.
The game's plot revolves around Earth's core being infested with monstrous serpents after an event known as the Transmigration. Players must lead their team of serial killers, sectarians, and psychopathic nurses through various modes such as one player, third-person horror, story, competitive, and online. Stadiums like the Backrooms, Sematary Hill, and Chainsaws United serve as the battlegrounds for intense matches where decapitated heads are used as the ball.
Fear FA 98 has been in development for a year and recently completed a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund its release on Steam in Halloween 2025. Jazz aims to expand the game to Switch, Xbox, and PS5 platforms with additional funding. A tie-in game with Nike, called Nike Mare 98, is already available for PC download, featuring football-playing zombies in Nike trainers.
