Dustin Byfuglien: From Hockey Sticks to Fishing Rods - A Look at His Passion for Fishing

Summer is the perfect time for many to trade in their hockey sticks for fishing rods and head out to the lakes in Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. Former Winnipeg Jets player Dustin Byfuglien has taken his love for fishing to the next level, often spotted on a boat in Minnesota or Lake of the Woods in northwestern Ontario. Recently, Byfuglien and his partner Mike Reid participated in the Kenora Bass Invitational, finishing 25th overall with a total of 49.25 large-mouth bass over three days, just 7.24 behind the leaders.

Despite his hockey background, Byfuglien now dedicates his time to fishing and family, stating that his only hockey these days involves chasing his kids. The transition from the ice to the water has not gone unnoticed, as Byfuglien continues to receive support and admiration from fans who have followed his journey from hockey player to angler. The Kenora Bass Invitational also saw another former NHL player, Mike Richards, from Kenora, finishing in third place alongside his brother.
