Radu Jude's New Projects: From 'Dracula' to Frankenstein and Beyond
Romanian filmmaker Radu Jude is set to premiere his latest film, "Dracula," at the Locarno Film Festival. However, he is already working on a new project based on the iconic horror character Frankenstein. Marvel star Sebastian Stan is confirmed to play both Victor Frankenstein and the monster in the film set in Romania. The story will intertwine the history of a CIA prison in Romania with the Frankenstein legend.
Jude and Stan had discussed collaborating before, and when Jude pitched the idea for the Frankenstein film, Stan was on board. The film will explore the connection between the Western world and Eastern Europe through the character's story. Jude's recent film, "Kontinental '25," won the Silver Bear for best screenplay at the Berlin Film Festival.
"Dracula," Jude's dark comedy dissecting the Dracula myth, will premiere at the Locarno Film Festival. The film contains scenes that may be unsettling for some viewers. Following Locarno, Jude plans to shoot another film inspired by "The Diary of a Chambermaid," focusing on immigration and Romanians working abroad. The tone of this film will be more serious compared to "Dracula" and will delve into the dramatic issues faced by the characters.
