Born to Run: Celebrating 50 Years of Bruce Springsteen in Long Branch
Long Branch is gearing up to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen's iconic album, "Born to Run," which he penned while residing in the city's West End neighborhood. The city will host a special exhibit at the Art and Cultural Center showcasing rare posters, photographs, and promotional materials related to the album. Collaborating with Monmouth University and the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music, the exhibit will feature iconic artifacts like Springsteen's early band's drum set and a replica of the guitar from the album cover.
The exhibition will also pay homage to the West End neighborhood in the 1970s, exploring its influence on Springsteen's music and life. Visitors will get a glimpse into the rock legend's surfing days along the Jersey Shore, shedding light on the local culture that shaped his early artistic voice. Mayor John Pallone expressed pride in Springsteen's roots in Long Branch and the impact of his time in the city on his career.

They can also participate in a Bruce Springsteen song open mic night. Each visitor will receive a vintage Long Branch postcard to share their personal stories about the rock legend, ensuring that their voices become part of his enduring legacy.
The exhibit opens on August 18 at the Long Branch Arts and Cultural Center, with a free opening night reception on August 19.
