Cleveland Hoops Showdown: Ohio State vs. West Virginia and Ohio vs. St. Bonaventure at Rocket Arena
Northeast Ohio college basketball fans will have the opportunity to watch Ohio State and Ohio compete at Rocket Arena in the Cleveland Hoops Showdown on December 13. The Buckeyes will face off against West Virginia, while the Bobcats will take on St. Bonaventure. Game times and TV details will be announced later.
All four programs, including Ohio State, West Virginia, Ohio, and St. Bonaventure, previously participated in the 2023 Legends of Basketball Showcase. Ohio State emerged victorious against West Virginia in overtime, St. Bonaventure defeated Akron, and Ohio fell to Davidson.
Ohio State, led by head coach Jake Diebler, will showcase All-Big Ten second team member Bruce Thornton, who averaged 17.7 points per game last season. West Virginia, under new head coach Ross Hodge, brings a successful track record, having led North Texas to the 2025 NIT semifinals.
The second game will feature the Bobcats, coached by Jeff Boals, taking on St. Bonaventure, led by Mark Schmidt. Ohio returns three experienced starters, including Jackson Paveltetzke, who averaged 13.8 points per game last season.
