Legends of College Football: A Panel Discussion with Urban Meyer, Jim Tressel, John Cooper, and Lt. General Richard Clark
Three former Ohio State University football head coaches, Urban Meyer, Jim Tressel, and John Cooper, along with Lt. General Richard Clark, will be participating in a panel discussion at Bowling Green State University on August 28. The event, titled "The Significance of College Football in America," will highlight the importance of college football in the country.
Urban Meyer, who coached the Ohio State Buckeyes for seven seasons and won a national championship in 2014, started his coaching career at Bowling Green. Jim Tressel, the current lieutenant governor of Ohio, coached the Buckeyes for 10 seasons and led them to a Bowl Championship Series title in 2002. John Cooper, who coached OSU for 12 years and achieved a Rose Bowl victory in 1997, will also be part of the panel.
The panel discussion will be open to BGSU students, Falcon Club donors, and corporate partners, with limited seating available. The general public can attend the event as well, with doors opening at 1 p.m. The panel will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Following the panel discussion, BGSU will host Lafayette in its 2025 season opener at 6 p.m. The game will mark the debut of former OSU running back Eddie George as the head coach of the Falcons. Eddie George, a Heisman Trophy winner who played under John Cooper at Ohio State, is starting his first season as Bowling Green's head coach after coaching Tennessee State to a successful record in previous seasons.
