Genesis Magma Racing Unveils GMR-001 Hypercar for World Endurance Championship

Genesis Magma Racing has unveiled its new GMR-001 Hypercar for the World Endurance Championship. The car had its first track outing at Paul Ricard's training track, with drivers Andre Lotterer and Pipo Derani behind the wheel. The shakedown was deemed successful, marking the beginning of a full development program later this month.
The GMR-001 Hypercar, developed by Hyundai Motorsport, completed its maiden run with no disclosed mileage. Technical director Francois-Xavier Demaison praised the work done by the drivers on the simulator and during the shakedown, setting a good foundation for upcoming tests. The car is the first of three development chassis delivered to Genesis by ORECA Motorsport, the project's development partner.
Genesis has met its schedule targets since launching the program in Dubai last year. Team principal Cyril Abiteboul expressed excitement at seeing the finished car perform as planned after months of preparation and anticipation. The next step for the GMR-001 Hypercar is a full circuit run at Paul Ricard, where Genesis is establishing its race operations base for the WEC program.
In collaboration with IDEC Sport, Genesis is utilizing an ORECA-Gibson LMP2 in the European Le Mans Series to train staff for the upcoming WEC season. The team is moving into a new facility built by Groupe IDEC to support its trajectory program and prepare for the challenges ahead in the world of endurance racing. The progress made so far indicates a promising start for Genesis in the hypercar class of the WEC.
