Robert Plant's Saving Grace: Reimagining Gospel Plough and More on Their New Album

Robert Plant and his band SAVING GRACE have released a reimagined version of Blind Willie Johnson's "Gospel Plough" from their upcoming album "Saving Grace". The album, set to be released on September 26, features a new band of talented musicians and showcases a collection of century-old music. The genesis of "Saving Grace" began during the lockdown in England, where Plant connected with the diverse group of musicians who shared his love for evocative songs. The band, consisting of vocalist Suzi Dian, drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo and string player Matt Worley, and cellist Barney Morse-Brown, has spent the past six years exploring various styles and personalities, creating a unique sound that blends joy and abandon.

Plant describes the recording process of "Saving Grace" as organic and experimental, with the band recording in different locations, including a field adjacent to Matt Worley's place and a friend's barn in Gloucestershire. The album features a mix of covers and original songs, breathing new life into classic tracks by artists like Memphis Minnie, Bob Mosley, and Low. Plant's approach to the music is described as pastoral and relaxed, with a focus on enjoying the creative process without any grand aspirations. The band's close proximity to each other, living within eight miles of one another, adds to the coherence and familiarity of their collaboration.

Following the release of "Saving Grace", Robert Plant and SAVING GRACE will embark on their first U.S. tour this fall, with shows scheduled in cities like Brooklyn, Chicago, and Los Angeles. The album's tracklist includes songs like "Chevrolet", "Soul Of A Man", and "Everybody's Song", showcasing the band's diverse musical influences and talents. The upcoming tour will give fans a chance to experience the band's unique sound live and witness the magic of their musical collaboration.
