Beau DeMayo's Rejected Blade MCU Movie Pitch: A Look at Marvel Studios' Approach and the Future of the Blade Project

Beau DeMayo, the creator of X-Men ’97, recently shared details about his rejected pitch for a Blade MCU movie. DeMayo criticized Marvel Studios' approach to reviewing project drafts, specifically mentioning a Blade movie pitch that he had made. His pitch involved a heavy focus on magic, with Deacon Frost manipulating explorers to reveal a vampire spell and connecting the story to Doctor Strange's world by incorporating Chthon. Despite Kevin Feige's interest in the idea, the pitch was deemed "too comic book" and Mahershala Ali, the Blade star, had reservations about the magical elements.
Marvel Studios reportedly developed a new concept for the Blade movie, with Ali still attached to the role. However, Ali has been tight-lipped about any updates on the project. Various directors and writers were previously linked to the movie, including Bassam Tariq, Yann Demange, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Michael Green, and Eric Pearson. The current status of the project's creative team and cast members, such as Mia Goth, remains uncertain.
